Job Description
Position Title: Pediatric Physician
Division: BWFHT
Job Status: FT/PT Contract
Job Reports to: Executive Director

ByWard Family Health (BWFHT), formerly University of Ottawa Health Services (UOHS), offers the general public a comprehensive range of services. We are looking for a specialized pediatric physician to join our comprehensive primary health care team. The pediatric physician will focus on providing care ranging from routine/primary care to acute care and consultation services. You will provide safe, quality patient and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the ByWard Family Health Team.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular thorough examinations on newborns and young children to check and record their health and normal physical development
- Examine sick children to determine their condition to gather information about symptoms
- Reach an informed diagnosis based on scientific knowledge and individual medical history
- Prescribe medications and give detailed instructions for administration
- Advise parents on children’s diet, exercise, and disease-preventive measures
- Keep updated records of patients’ illnesses, surgeries, or other medical episodes
Essential Qualifications:
- Registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
- Experience providing care to pediatric patients
- Knowledge of children’s epidemiology and infectious diseases
- Knowledge of diagnostic, treatment, and rehabilitation principles and techniques
- Knowledge of medication appropriate for children and their side-effects
- Outstanding diagnostic skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Medical Degree with specialization in pediatrics
- Willing and ready to work flexible hours
- Degree in medicine
- Bilingual (French/English) is an asset
