REGISTERED NURSE INTENSIVE CARE (ICU) AND POST ANESTHETIC CARE (PACU) Sponsorship
St. Joseph's Health Centre currently has an exciting opportunity to join our critical care team as a Registered Nurse in a composite role in Intensive Care (ICU) and Post Anesthetic Care (PACU) through the critical care sponsorship program. Candidates selected to participate in this program will be sponsored to achieve critical care certification through one of our college partners. To successfully complete this course, candidates must meet both academic and clinical evaluation standards.
In this position, you will experience varied nursing assignments, ranging from elective surgical patients who may or may not be admitted to hospital, to critically ill patients who are receiving life support interventions. In both clinical areas, your ability to exercise good judgement and think critically will be instrumental in your ability to respond to changing clinical situations. Qualifications include:
Selected applicants will be required to attend the full-time external Critical Care Certificate Program. Tuition and full salaries will be paid by St. Joseph's Health Centre for this program.
Candidates who successfully complete the Critical Care Certificate Program will then be transferred to the full-time, Registered Nurse position in the Intensive Care Unit. Successful candidates will be required to commit and remain in the full-time, Registered Nurse position in the Intensive Care unit for 24 months, following the effective date of placement.
As a condition of employment, all external hires will be required to submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination or documentation unless a valid accommodation under the Ontario Human Rights Code exists. Please note, if you are extended an offer of employment, you will be required to provide proof of vaccination in Ontario QR Code format. All internal candidates must be in compliance with Unity Health Toronto's COVID-19 Vaccination Policy.
