Overview: The RN/RPN is an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team who works co-operatively with all members of the health care team in the promotion of patient health and prevention of disease.
Position Specific Duties:
- Record patient vitals, prepare patient and room for examination
- Administer and record immunizations and allergy injections. Ensure immunizations are current and educate patients as to the need for and possible side effects of such injections
- Administer clinical procedures such as suture removal, skin and wound dressings, TB testing, and ear syringing
- Maintain accurate, concise, and confidential EMR/paper documentation
- Assess patient health care needs, discuss test results, and respond to questions pertaining to health promotion and disease prevention
- Triage incoming patient calls and book appointments accordingly
- Receive, sort, and send facsimiles, file paperwork/charts
- Pull patient charts for appointments or follow-up work
- Perform a variety of confidential duties (e.g., relaying messages, referral workups, data entry etc.)
- Prepare, collect, and record payment of third-party bills
- Provide back-up coverage for reception for illness and vacation coverage
- Ensure adequate stock and appropriate storage of immunizations
- Maintain clean, orderly, and well-stocked examination rooms
- Sterilize equipment for minor surgical procedures

Qualifications - Education and Specific Job Requirements:
- Completion of a B.Sc. in Nursing or completion of a diploma in Practical Nursing
- Current Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Two or more years of clinical experience in a community setting highly valued
- Demonstrated competencies in observation, assessment, and health education
- Providing nursing care to infants, children, adults, and seniors
- Demonstrated effective verbal/written communication, interpersonal and public relations, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in computer applications: Windows, Microsoft Office programs, etc.
- Previous medical office and EMR experience valued
- Experience in telephone triage and booking appointments
- Ability to set priorities and organize work accordingly in a busy office setting
- Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required

Contract length: 12 months
Salary: $26.00-$30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 24 per week
Schedule: 8 hour shift
