SUMMARY:To oversee the dispensary and patient care in our pharmacy, including providing consultation to patients within scope of practice, working with health care providers, practicing to full scope in dispensing/compounding medication, and assisting in the maintenance of the dispensary.
Education & Professional Licensing
• Valid license to practice in the province

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership & Supervision
• Ensure the pharmacy team works cohesively to complete necessary activities - you are expected to effectively lead the team while on shift!
• Support ongoing training optimizing the skill set of all pharmacy team members
Pharmacy and Customer Service
• Practice within federal/provincial, regulatory/legal requirements,
• Adhere to provincial Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice set out by the Alberta College of Pharmacists
• Demonstrate professional integrity working within a small team
• Ensure all privacy requirements are met as required in the Health Information Act
• Provide counseling on devices and products
• Supporting our pharmacists in practicing to full extent of expanded scope with Professional Services
• Ensure accuracy of all prescriptions dispensed
• Communicate with other health care professionals to provide optimal patient care
• Maintain all records required in accordance with legislation, standards of practice, and policy,
• Provide timely and positive resolutions to customer needs and requests from other healthcare providers
• Promote Pharmacy services as appropriate
Workflow and Inventory Management
• Control access to the dispensary with respect to inventory and patient confidentiality
• Oversight of current inventory and placing medication orders from wholesalers (McKesson and Imperial)
• Ensure all requirements for documentation and control of substances under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and Regulations are met
• Ensure proper preparation, packaging, distribution and storage of all inventory including those that require special handling (eg/ vaccines and biologics)
• Overseeing and completing basic compounding of medications
Operations
• Ensure workstations, counseling/waiting areas, are tidy professional in appearance
• Ensure inventory is stored in appropriate areas
• Working very closely with other members of our team (technicians, assistants, and front store staff) to communicate all outstanding issues with relevant team members
• Identify business-expanding opportunities, where appropriate
Experience, Skills & Qualifications
• Independent decision making ability - must be an effective problem solver
• Plan, coordinate and delegate assignments as needed to maximize team efficiency
• Prioritize activities and implement action plans quickly in response to changing initiatives
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Superior customer relations skills and a strong sense of professionalism
• Strong personal computing skills and knowledge of Kroll pharmacy software is an asset
• Ensure all Health & Safety procedures are followed to provide optimal work environment for all colleagues
• Being a resident of the Bow Valley is an asset

Salary: $28.00-$32.00 per hour
